Kitanim, Kindergarten and Grade 1

A love of learning starts early at the London Community Hebrew Day School.

Children in our Early Years program are introduced to the fundamental building blocks of language and mathematics
that will serve as the foundation for a lifetime of learning.  Through songs, stories and play, our youngest students are immersed in a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment, where they are able to soak up the opportunity to learn more about the world around them.

Students may attend Kitanim (JK) one to five afternoons each week. Many of our Kitanim students spend their mornings at Gan Gani nursery school, located in the adjacent Jewish Community Centre, making for a full day of fun and learning.
“LCHDS offers our children an enriched and diverse Jewish and secular education. At the end of the day, they are challenged, happy students.”
                                                        - Pearl Langer & Bing Siang Gan

We offer a full-day Kindergarten program and by the time children reach the end of Grade 1, they are fully engaged with written language – English, Hebrew and French – and have made important strides towards grasping fundamental operations in mathematics. Our curriculum meets and exceeds the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Education.

Our Early Years program culminates in our special Chagigat Siddur ceremony, where all Grade 1 students receive their personal Siddur (prayer book) in recognition of their newly developed mastery of Hebrew reading skills and flawless ability to participate in various ritual observances.

A detailed course curriculum is provided to parents.  If you have any questions,  please contact the school at
